Part 1

Part 2

The Inside Story

Bulandshahr, India - August 10, 2011

A woman, Santosh, who had been declared dead in 2006, was found alive and living with her new husband in the Narora area of Bulandshahr district. Santosh had gone missing from her marital home in the Khajuria area of Bulandshahr in 2005, and her "body" was identified by her husband, Bhanu Pratap Singh, the following year. An FIR was lodged by Singh in 2005 stating that his wife had been kidnapped, and the police registered a case of murder in 2006. However, Santosh had left her home because her husband would beat her, after which she had a court marriage with Brij Lal and had been living in Narora for the past four years. The police have taken serious note of the matter as some innocent people, including Om Vir, are in jail in connection with the case.

The SSP of Bulandshahr has been asked to re-investigate the case with the court's permission and get those in jail in connection with the case freed immediately. Stern action will be taken against Bhanu Pratap Singh, who had identified the body of another woman as his wife. A similar case of kidnapping was filed by Singh in 2000, but Santosh had turned up two months later, according to Additional Director-General of Police Brij Lal.
