The Inside Story

Co-Owner of Matrimonial Bureau Found Murdered in West Uttar Pradesh: Financial Dispute Suspected as Motive

A 29-year-old man, co-owner of a matrimonial bureau in Lado Sarai and resident of Pushp Vihar near Saket in South Delhi, was found murdered in Gulawati area of Bulandshahr in West Uttar Pradesh a day after he had gone missing from his office on March 7. The victim, Sanjeev Kumar Lal Das, was found strangulated, and his cellphone was missing, but his purse was intact. The local B B Nagar police station at Bulandshahr had registered a case of murder. The case is likely to be transferred to the Saket police station in Delhi after it emerged that the deceased was involved in a financial dispute with his business partners.

Sanjeev's brother, Manoj Kumar Lal Das, who is employed with the Ministry of Home Affairs, said that Sanjeev had joined the matrimonial agency as a manager and had taken independent charge after a promoter-cum-owner fell ill. His family members told the media that Sanjeev was a bachelor, but his family was looking for a match. They also said that he and his partner were not on good terms over sharing of profit amounting to Rs 1.5 lakh. The police are yet to question anyone inthis regard, but they are tracking Sanjeev's movement from Delhi to Bulandshahr and hope to make a breakthrough soon.

The incident highlights the need for effective measures to prevent and address crimes related to financial disputes and business rivalries. It also underscores the importance of timely intervention and coordination between law enforcement agencies across different states to ensure that justice is served and the perpetrators are brought to book. The victim's family and friends have expressed shock and grief over the tragic loss of a young life and called for swift and decisive action to prevent such crimes in the future.
