Body of Woman Found, Three-Year-Old Daughter Rescued

Officials of the NRI police station in CBD Belapur were left baffled when they found the body of Surekha Bhima Aantgali, estimated to be in her late 20s, in Sector 20 in Belapur village. The incident happened around midnight on Thursday, and Surekha was strangled to death. The police identified her through the tattoo on her right forearm.

Meanwhile, a local resident found Surekha’s three-year-old daughter, Chakuli, sleeping on a divider on Palm Beach Road around 8 am. The police were informed, and when Chakuli was taken to the police station, she identified Surekha from her photograph. The shade of Chakuli’s nail polish also resembled that of her mother’s.

Officials have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code against unidentified persons. They are now searching for Surekha’s husband and family as Chakuli could only tell them that she is from the area.
