The Inside Story

Illicit Affair Leads to Murder on Mumbai Train

Mumbai Police have arrested three individuals for conspiring to murder a man by throwing him from a running train between Dahisar and Mira Road railway stations. Mangesh Salkar, who suspected his brother-in-law Babu Salkar of having an affair with his wife, decided to kill him. The decomposed body of 30-year-old Babu Salkar was found on February 12 between Dahisar and Meera Road railway stations. Police discovered that he had disappeared since February 8.

After investigation, the police arrested Mangesh Salkar and found that both he and Babu had gone to work on February 8, but only Mangesh returned to his room. After receiving the body, the police interrogated Mangesh, who later confessed to having murdered Babu with the help of his two friends, Santosh Bhoir and Mastery Channale. According to Mangesh, his wife and Babu were having an affair that led to Babu's murder.

The three accused were produced before the Borivali Court on Wednesday and were remanded to police custody until February 21. The police are further investigating the case.
