Religious sect leader blackmailed over fabricated sex scandal.

RAJKOT: A woman from the city was arrested for blackmailing and robbing a 52-year-old mahant of Rameshwar temple near Visavadar town of Junagadh district.

Anuradha alias Aruna Budhbhatti (36), who was arrested on Friday was sent to three-day police remand on Saturday. She is among the seven who are accused in the case.

Mahant Govind Bhagat, separated from popular religious place Satadhar a decade ago, had filed a complaint against Nisa Patel, Aruna, Ismail, Dileep, Divya Joshi, Sultan and one other person last month. Bhagat has started his own temple near Visavadar.
According to complaint filed with B-division police station, Bhagat was robbed of gold pendant, Rs 2 lakh cash and a revolver by the accused after calling him at Nisha's residence last month in Rajkot.
Bhagat stated in his complaint that Nisha had invited him to Rajkot as a mark of respect and wanted to become his disciple.
He went to her residence on August 9, where after dinner, he slept at the first floor of the house. "During this time, Nisha and her accomplishes came near him and started recording video. They also tried to show me in a compromising position. Two persons identified themselves as Ismail and Divya told me that they are crime reporters and threatened me to expose my Ashram," the mahant alleged in the complaint.
