Woman Sentenced to 4 Years for False Rape Complaint

A local court in Indore has handed a four-year rigorous imprisonment sentence to a woman who lodged a false rape complaint against her landlord. The accused, Chanchal, wife of Sunil Rathaur, was found guilty of filing a fabricated complaint and blackmailing Rupkishor Agrawal in an attempt to seize his property and valuables. Tragically, the landlord could not bear the trauma and later committed suicide after being released from jail.

The additional sessions judge, Indira Singh, convicted Chanchal under Sections 182 (false information with intent to cause harm to another person) and 211 (false complaint to the police) and sentenced her to four years of rigorous imprisonment. In addition, a fine of Rs 10,000 was imposed on her. The court's decision was based on the evidence presented, leading to Chanchal's conviction.

This incident highlights the severe consequences that false accusations can have. The false rape complaint not only caused immense distress to the innocent landlord but ultimately led to his tragic demise. The court's verdict serves as a reminder of the importance of truthfulness and the gravity of making false allegations.
